Fundraising Programs
Since its founding in 1908, LCDS has thrived because of the support of its families and alumni who believe in our mission and our commitment to the future. The opportunities for investment in our children are many.
Cougar Pride - The Excellence Fund
The Excellence Fund is the annual fundraising effort for the School, supporting critical operations and programs for the current year. Did you know that tuition dollars only cover a student’s education until mid-April? Gifts to the Excellence Fund bridge this gap, help keep tuition down, and provide funding for every aspect of the LCDS environment, including arts, athletics, and technology.
This year's Annual Fund goal is $380,000, and these funds are budgeted for, and will be spent, this year!

The M.U.N. Endowment Initiative
In Spring 2005, LCDS received a $50,000 matching endowment grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation to support our Model United Nations Program. As a stipulation of this grant, the school met the challenge to raise $50,000 by April 2006. LCDS is proud to be one of six schools in the United States that participate in the international M.U. N. conference, and to have a newly created $100,000 endowment fund to support this program annually. If you are interest in supporting this program, please contact the Director of Development.
Pennsylvania Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
Since 2001, Lancaster Country Day School has been approved as a scholarship recipient in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) plan. In 2005-2006 we received over $100,000 in support from Pennsylvania companies. Any business can apply to the DCED and if certified, you may contribute these funds to our scholarship program. For more information, visit the PA Dept. of Community and Economic Development or contact the LCDS Director of Development.
FundFest 2009
Mark your calendars now for FundFest 2009, a fun-filled evening which will include live and silent auctions, great food and live entertainment. This year's event will be held on Saturday, April 18. In conjunction with this event, the school solicits both silent and live auction items, as well as large scale corporate support. For more information about FundFest, contact the Director of Special Events and Summer Programs.
Capital Giving
The $10.5 million Dare to be Great Campaign, which focused on new Upper and Middle School classrooms and additional learning spaces, administrative offices and a new Dining Commons, has set the pace for the Campus Master Plan. The primary purpose in creating new facilities for our Upper and Middle Schools was to provide much-needed classroom space for our 6th through 12th graders and our faculty. What was state of the art and functional in 1949 when the current wing was completed is antiquated and inefficient as we enter the 21st Century. And, as anyone who spent time walking down our corridors while classes were changing knows, we were bursting at the seams!
Currently, we are moving ahead with Phase 1.5, which includes renovation work to classrooms below the Painter Library in order to create a new lower school library and multi-purpose room, and the development of two new Pre-K classrooms. The Lower School wing, and arts and athletics projects will follow as phases in subsequent years. For more information as to how your capital gift can make a very real difference to our students, please contact our LCDS Director of Development.
